Best obstetrician performs ultrasounds for expectant Atlanta and Alpharetta, GA parents

​The first ultrasound
Most of the time, your best obstetrician will have you come in for your first appointment at around eight weeks along. Though, this will be estimated based on your knowledge of your last period. At this appointment, or another later in your first trimester, your obstetrician will likely do an internal ultrasound.
 
This internal ultrasound is exciting. You’ll likely get your first glance of your new baby! Your obstetrician will use this ultrasound to estimate your due date of your new arrival.
 
The second ultrasound
Most women will also receive a second ultrasound from their obstetrician during the second trimester, typically around 18 to 22 weeks. This not only allows your doctor, and you, to look at the baby and check their progress, many couples also use this ultrasound to find out the sex of their baby, something many new parents cannot wait to learn.
 
Additional ultrasounds
Though most of the time, your obstetrician will only have you do these two ultrasounds, there are times when additional ones are needed. You may have additional ones if you:

• Are a high risk pregnancy
• Are carrying multiples
• Have spotting or bleeding during pregnancy

 
Your obstetrician may also want to check your baby via an ultrasound before you give birth. They may want to make sure your baby is head down before you go into labor or may want to check the size of your baby to make sure they are not getting to large near the end.
